Några röster om EU

"The single market was the theme of the eighties; the single currency was the theme of the nineties; we must now face the difficult task of moving towards a single economy, a single political unity." och "For the first time since the fall of the Roman Empire, we have the opportunity to unite Europe."

EU-kommissionens tidigare ordförande Romano Prodi i Europaparlamentet i april respektive oktober 1999.

"Europes nations should be guided towards the superstate without their people understanding what is happening. This can be accomplished by successive steps, each disguised as having an economic purpose, but which will eventually and irreversibly lead to an federation."

"We decide something, leave it lying around and wait and see what happens. If no one kicks up a fuss, because most people don't know what has been decided, we continue step by step until there is no turning back."

"Of course this is the end of British democracy as we have known it, but if it is properly handled the people won't know what's happened until the end of the century. With any luck, old boy, by then I'll be dead."

Slutligen ett citat från Craig & Elliot i The Great European Rip-Off...

"Some Brussels insiders are even beginning to talk openly about what they call a 'post-democratic-age'. They believe the world is now so complex that it is no longer appropriate to allow ordinary citizens to have a say in how they are governed. So, according to our rulers, it is better to leave important decisions to the bureaucratic, technocratic elite – the new rulers of the Empire of Good Intentions."
